Frequently asked questions

Why rent from ILORIA Bretagne?

ILORIA Bretagne is ideally located in southern Brittany at the entrance to Lorient harbour, opposite Groix, and just a few hours' sail from the Gulf of Morbihan, Quiberon Bay, Belle Île and the Glénan archipelago. Lorient can be reached by train in 3? hours from Paris, or directly by road (free of charge, with no tolls) from Nantes or Rennes to Quimper. Our yachts are maintained by yachting professionals who love the sea and sailing. They are sailors themselves. Our entire team is dedicated to ensuring the quality of your charter.

How do I book a sailboat?

You can contact us via our website using our contact page, or by e-mail or telephone. Depending on your request, one or more quotes will be sent to you. As soon as you approve a quote, we will send you your rental contract. Your booking is confirmed on receipt of the contract signed by you and payment of a deposit of 40% of the amount of the quote (payment by bank transfer or credit card by telephone).

We will be happy to advise you on your choice of boat. It all depends on your experience, the number of cabins you want and your sailing programme. Take a look at our wide range of sailing yachts.

Hire with or without a skipper?

Our charter prices do not include a skipper. Depending on your sailing experience, you may choose to hire the services of a professional skipper. Don't hesitate to ask us if you'd like to be put in touch with people we're used to working with, as soon as possible if you're hiring during the high season.

What is included in the rental price?

When you sign a charter contract with Iloria, you know that all the equipment is included: electronics, waistcoats, dinghy, dinghy engine, spinnaker, insurance (with an excess), etc. It's simple and practical. The only extra costs are for energy (gas, diesel). Some yachts are not equipped with a dinghy or spinnaker motor. This is indicated on their detailed description.

What's not included:

We offer comfort options such as bedding (pillows with pillowcases, single duvets with covers and flat sheets), the cleaning package and the hire of specific equipment if required. We do not provide tea towels, hand towels or beach towels.

What does the insurance cover include?

All-risk boat insurance covers the classic risks associated with sailing, civil liability and damage caused to another boat.

If you wish to avoid the excess, it is up to you to buy it before departure by following our instructions.

What to plan before you arrive

Before your arrival, we recommend that you check that :

  • the balance of your charter has been paid,
  • you have completed the documents received by e-mail with the contract (the skipper's nautical CV and the crew list),
  • and, if applicable, paid the excess.

Don't forget to bring a suitable deposit (cheque or bank card).

The deposit represents the amount of the excess not covered by the insurance. The amount, which depends on the boat, is shown on the website and on your hire contract. For regattas, the deposit is doubled. The deposit is made by cheque or credit card.

The deposit will not be cashed, but you will need to set a credit card limit so that it can be cashed if necessary. Remember to check your limit.

You can take out an excess buy-back before your departure to avoid having to pay the deposit in the event of a claim. You can do this online before you come to Lorient, following the instructions we will have given you.

How is the reception going?

Either you arrive during Iloria Bretagne opening hours and we invite you to come to our office located on the quay, near the harbour master's office. Or you arrive outside opening hours and you can settle straight in on board your boat using the welcome information sent to you by email a few days before your arrival.

When and how do I take inventory?

The inventory is carried out as soon as you arrive on board. It is compulsory. We advise you to do it carefully and, if possible, with all the crew members. You'll find the supporting document in a pocket on the chart table. In this way, you can familiarise yourself with the boat and inform us of any shortcomings when the technician takes over. The Iloria welcome booklet on the chart table also contains information on the special features of the water.

Once the inventory has been taken, the boat is put in hand by an Iloria technician. The team will tell you the time. This is an opportunity to identify the boat's specific features, particularly in terms of electricity, electronics, sails and engine, and to ask any questions you may have. In the documents on board, you'll find all the administrative documents for the yacht (registration document, insurance certificate, radio licence, etc.).

Where can I get supplies before the start?

Two supermarkets are located three and five minutes' drive from the port of Kernevel, where you'll find everything you need for your groceries. A good bakery is also within easy reach.

As soon as you have booked your hire, we will send you a detailed information sheet on refuelling options.

Most of the islands in the region are well-stocked, so you'll be able to do plenty of shopping during your cruise. Beware, however, of the Glenan archipelago, where there are no shops at all.

Is return cleaning included?

When it comes to cleaning, you have two options:

1. complete cleaning by yourself, including the bottom of the boat, cupboards and lockers, deck and cockpit, etc.

2. the cleaning package, a paying option to be booked with Iloria, preferably before your departure. In this case, you must take all your rubbish to the harbour office and leave the boat in a clean condition, in particular: dishes washed and put away, fridge, gas cooker and toilets clean. We will take care of all the cleaning.

When should I leave the boat?

Once the boat has been stowed, cleaned, refuelled and gassed (if necessary) and your personal belongings collected, please return the completed return form and the boat keys to the chart table.
